Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: My favourite thing about teach exec is their constant energy and spirit!

Personal Spotlight: Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I am so excited to be a teach this year! I’m in Con Ed to teach I/S drama and English. Here are a couple fun facts about me: I spend 90% of my day having dance parties in the mirror, my dog is named socks and if you’re my friend you will receive pictures of him, I become overly obsessed with any movie I love, and most importantly, I can’t wait to meet you all!

Words of wisdom: Don’t forget that the most important thing is having fun! Coming to Queen’s can definitely be a tough adjustment but I promise that if you come in with a positive attitude you will have the time of your life *cue dirty dancing* and most importantly, make the most amazing friends

Favourite thing about ConEd?: I there’s a lot. however, if i were to pick one it’d be the absolute banger community because everyone’s just so nice to each other #canadiantingz 🇨🇦🍁 but really, everyone, from fellow con-eddies to Faculty of Ed. professors, is practically like my family because they’re so caring, and CESA works extremely hard to plan such entertaining events !! ❤️

Favourite first-year class?: HIST106 HANDS DOWN🤞 modern european history gang where u at 😏🚨

Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: they’re so funny together but most importantly they’re super kind & approachable ❤️ literally squad goals 🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♀️🧍 also, they’re not like the intimidating higher-ups that you fear, but more of just upper-year friends!!!

Personal Spotlight: hey class of ‘26 😄 !!! i’m wennie and i’ll be majoring in history with teachables in history and english (I/S). i’m superrrrrrr excited to meet everyone (yay more friends for me 😏). i’ll start by listing some fun facts about me: 1) i’m very short 😢🙏 2) i applied to Queen’s a day before university applications were due ❤️ #ilovequeenssomuch 3) i love watching other people play horror games because i cannot do it alone 😀 (some examples of ones i like include the resident evil franchise, doki doki literature club [the name sounds funny but it’s definitely scary!! trust me 🥲], and more because my brain’s kind of empty right now) 4) bueno chocolate is superior 🍫🍫. i hope you have a great time at Queen’s (and Con-Ed) and don’t be afraid to say “hi” if you see me on campus!!! do the nae nae when you see me or something 😱

Words of wisdom: “it matters not what you’ve done but what you do with what you’ve done for others.” - noah centineo ❤️ OKAY BUT IN ALL SERIOUSNESS… you should try your best to enjoy first year as much as you can, like making friends, trying out new things, get involved by joining clubs, and just have fun. life gets harder as you grow older, so seize the day! also i’m aware i’m an 18 year old telling you to live your life to the fullest and not a 90 year old sage 😅😀. but i do mean it!!!

Favourite thing about ConEd?: My favourite thing about coned is the people! I love how everyone is so supportive of each other, and it's such a welcoming community. It truly feels like a family at university!

Favourite first-year class?: My favourite first year class is PROF 110. Holly is an incredible professor, and I'm so grateful to be in her class. This is the only 8:30 am class I enjoy going to!

Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: I love how fun, supportive, and welcoming everyone is! Coming into university it can be really difficult to find people that you connect with, but the teach exec are great upper years who are so easy to get along with! They make it known that they're always here for you, and that's really comforting!

Personal Spotlight: What's up class of 2025?! My name is Apisha Mahenthirarajan, and I am so excited to meet everyone coming into the program this year. I am in con-ed arts in the I/S stream, with teachables in French and History. Some fun facts about me are my go to snack is banana and nutella, my biggest pet-peeve is wet socks, and my favourite tv show is Jane the Virgin! Choosing to come to Queens and be a part of the con-ed faculty was genuinely one of the best decisions I ever made! I am so excited to welcome you into our program, and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Words of wisdom: You get what you give! What you put into things is what you get out of them. If you want more, give more. The saying obviously goes that if you want something, you must be willing to work equally hard for it. I have found that this saying applies to many aspects of my life, school, extracurriculars, friendships and more. I have noticed that the courses I enjoyed the most were always the ones I put the most effort into, the friendships that were the strongest were always the ones I spent much time strengthening, the extracurriculars I enjoyed were the ones where I truly felt passionate about it. Speaking from experience, first year of university can be tricky, it's very different from anything you've ever experienced before. If you want to have the university experience you've always dreamt of, put yourself out there, remember why you chose to come to Queens, work hard, and have fun!
