Favourite thing about ConEd?: I LOVE the community. It’s my favourite thing about this program hands down. Coming in to Con-Ed and to university in general is super overwhelming. There are so many people and opportunities and things to do, it’s a lot to take in. With Con-Ed I felt so lucky because the size of the program and the emphasis on community really helped me get to know everybody. They also make sure to let you know of a bunch of different clubs and opportunities so you can test everything out and find something you like. Basically it’s just really nice to know that your program has your back. It’s better in B. Ed!!

Favourite first year class?: I really loved FILM 110, if you love watching movies like me, and basically everyone else, then you’ll love this class!! I found it was super interesting to look at all the different genres of movies and what goes on behind each one. Plus you get to watch a movie each class! It’s not a bird course but it definitely is lots of fun!!

Favourite thing about Teach exec?: I’m so excited for this years teach exec! They bring so much spirit and energy and fun to the team (just wait and see). They’re also super on top of it and make sure we’re on track (very important). I know we’re going to have so much fun planning o-week for you guys and together with teach exec we’re make sure your first week here at queens is going to be amazing!!

Personal Spotlight: Hi!!! I’m Grace! I’m in I.S. with teachables in History and French, and I’m majoring in Art History. I love being involved and meeting new people. I’ve made a bunch of new friends from Con-Ed and I can’t wait to make more!! Yeah I’m talking about you! I love to spend time with my friends and going on adventures and seeing the world! I also love a good fake post-workout-booster-juice (you’ll understand) so if you see me in line at the arc don’t hesitate to say hey!! I can’t wait to meet all of the new fun faces and be chill or hype or anything in between with you!! O-Week 2020 is gonna be the best one EVAAA

Words of wisdom: You’re going to feel a lot of pressure the first week—even month, or more—of university. There are so many new people and new friends and you want to make sure you get to meet everyone and do everything and you might feel like you haven’t done enough, but trust me, it’s all going to be okay. Everyone (even if they’re pretending that they’re not) is feeling the same amount of lost and lonely and overwhelmed as you! That’s okay!! You’ll get into the swing of things, just keep on being you and powering through!! You got this!! Can’t wait to see you!

Favourite thing about ConEd?: My favourite thing about ConEd is the environment, everyone is super welcoming and orientation week was one of the best times of my life! PROF class is so much fun and you learn so much. It also provides a family environment and we all share CON-ED LOVE<3

Favourite first year class?: Music 191 - Music theory made fun!!

Favourite thing about Teach exec?: They are so welcoming and are there for you!! Each one of them is so kind and funny. They make an amazing team! :)

Personal Spotlight: Hey class of 24’!! My name is Sarah and I’m in the I/S stream of Con-Ed with teachables in music (piano) and math! I love Netflix, going to concerts, field hockey, playing music and hanging out with friends & family. I’m from Ottawa - REPRESENT - and so far Queens has been such an amazing experience! I have a dog at home who I adore, I love dogs so please show me pictures if you have one, or any pet! My favourite song is fergalicious and I lovee Kim’s convenience, Grey’s, and B99. I’m really approachable and I’m here to talk anytime if you need. I am SO pumped to meet all of you and have the best orientation week together !

Words of wisdom: Make sure you have all the courses you need, go see Vicky in the Con-Ed office, she is a literal queen and will fix your schedule just like that! Also, put yourself out there, it may be hard at first but everyone is in the same place as you probably nervous, a little lost but reach out to your peers and your teaches, we’ve all been there!

Ciaran Allman

Name: Ciaran Allman

Nickname(s): Aqualad

Preferred Pronouns: He/Him

Hometown: Ottawa.

Favourite thing about ConEd?: Honestly, my favorite thing about Con-ed is participating in all of the events that are held by CESA, along with finding a second family at this school. I've made better friends here than I have at home in 6 months, compared to 19 years. So that, and seeing Daniel Amodeo every single day is my favorite thing about Con-ed.

Favourite first year class?: My favorite first year class is Physics 104/106. There is nothing better than the professor telling you that you will fail the exam on the first, and him continuing to until the day before the exam.

Favourite thing about Teach exec?: By far my favorite thing about teach exec is standing beside the Academic teach Paris Tomazic and looking really tall.

Personal Spotlight: Rise and Shine class of 24. My name is Ciaran Allman, and I am so excited to meet everyone coming into the program this year. I am majoring in Physics and I am in I.S with teachables in Physics and Mathematics. I have a little bit of Survivor obsession, I enjoy going to the gym, playing on intramural's, travelling, and am the CESA model for coned clothing. If you think I look weird with long hair, you should see my Id. If you think I look small, wait till I stand beside Daniel Lu, If you think I’m attractive wait until you see Bryan Littlefield, and if you think I have a big nose, wait till you meet Daniel Amodeo. Hit me up if you wanna talk anything Survivor related or if you wanna see a magic trick, and I cannot wait to meet all of you this September, ESPECIALLY my #1 froshies.

Words of wisdom: You Miss the 100 % of the shots you don’t take - Wayne Gretzky. Coming to Queens can be a rough transition, meeting new people, living away from home, and eating Cafeteria food. Just remember to come here and be yourself. First year goes by so fast and you are going to meet so many new and amazing people that you are going to be friends with for the rest of your life. Get involved, come to all the Con-ed events and talk to new people, and I can guarantee that this place will feel like home in no time.

The Concurrent Education Orientation Week acknowledges that Queen's University is situated on traditional Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee territory.
