Favourite thing about ConEd?: I love the ConEd community!!! The ConEd faculty is like their own little family and con ed love truly does exist!! Since it is a smaller faculty you really get the feeling of community and belonging! Even though my first year was online I was still able to meet so many amazing people in the faculty because everyone is soo outgoing, kind, supportive, and super friendly!!!

Favourite first-year class?: Chem112, chem is one of my favourite subjects I find it very fascinating! This course reviews a lot of concepts learned in high school, so it has not been too challenging of a course! Although my labs for chemistry were online this year, the lab simulations we did instead were fun to do! I think the profs were all amazing and they did a good job trying to make them as real as possible!

Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: One of my favourite things is definitely how crazy fun the whole teach exec is!!! I remember after the very first meeting my cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much, I had such a great time!  Not to mention how kind-hearted and supportive everyone is, spreading so much ConEd love!! They really have everyone’s best interest in mind and are very dedicated to making this O-week an amazing one for us all regardless of the unfortunate recent circumstances!! They truly are a GrouNDbrEAKinG team!! <3

Personal Spotlight: Hey everyone!!!! My name is Cassidy and I am soooo ecstatic to be a teach this year and to be able to meet all of you 2025 coneddies in the fall!! I have soo much passion and love (ConEd love!) for this program, I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was 4 years old! I am in I.S. and I am planning to major in chemistry with teachables in chemistry and biology! Some things I love to do are painting, bake cookies (and eat them! Hehe), go for a hike to a nice view, I also love watching a good show (some of my favs are friends, the vampire diaries, stranger things and hart of dixie!!). I am super friendly and approachable, and I love to meet new people and make new friends so if we cross paths on campus please don’t hesitate to say hiii, I’d love to chat:))!! I am so excited for you froshies to join the faculty and I can’t waittt to welcome you all!!!!!

Words of wisdom: Something I would suggest to all the incoming coneddies is to get involved in as many things that you can!! There are so many opportunities in the queen’s community to be a part of a club or team or committee! Especially within coned, whether you join CESA or attend an event night, it is also a great way to meet some amazing people and create lasting memories!! I know for me it’s been a great way to connect with others even through a screen this year! Everyone in the queen’s community is so friendly and welcoming, they will surely help make your first year an extraordinary one!!

Favourite thing about ConEd?: My favourite thing about ConEd would definitely be the community. With the pandemic going on last year, I found it hard to connect with people online but everyone was always so kind and willing to lend a helping hand/ear/shoulder - whatever you needed! It honestly felt like one big family. People in ConEd have the BIGGEST hearts and you'll see a friendly face wherever you go for sure. #conedlove

Favourite first-year class?: SOCY 122! The content was super interesting, the workload was definitely manageable, and the professor was great! 10/10 would recommend :)

Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: My favourite thing about the Teach Execs is how friendly and approachable they are! I know I can always talk to them if I ever need anything, and they're all working so hard to make O-Week a fun, safe, and amazing experience for all you new ConEddies coming to Queens!

Personal Spotlight: Hello hello! My name is Amanda and I'm so excited to be a Teach for your 2021 ConEd Orientation Week! I'm in my second year, and I'm planning to major in Health Studies and go into the P/J stream. A little bit about me: I love reading, watching anime and k-dramas (hit me up for some recs!), and staying active - although this usually just consists of me freestyle dancing in my room :) I've also been trying to get into tennis recently, but it's been a bit of a learning process. I can't wait to see all your lovely faces in September and welcome you into our ConEd family!

Words of wisdom: Take some time for yourself when you need it. The transition from high school to university is a big one, and finding a balance between everything will take some time. If you're ever having a hard time, don't hesitate to reach out to any of the Teaches - we're more than happy to help you navigate this new, exciting, maybe scary? experience that is your university life! That's what we're here for :) Just remember that your mental health and well-being always comes first, and you're never alone! On a more positive note, also don't be afraid to put yourself out there! University is honestly such a big place, and there are so many new things to do and new people to meet. Join clubs, experience and explore, and have fun! You never know what you might encounter.

Favourite Thing About ConEd?: The people! Everyone is so supportive, kind, and willing to help. From your first day as a Con-Eddie, you will feel so welcomed and part of the community just because of how sweet and generous the people are! The amount of Con-Ed Love is so abundant and overwhelming!

Favourite first-year class?: MUTH 110! As an introduction to music and drama from Ancient Greece to the Renaissance, it is a lot of fun, and I learned so much about the performing arts that I had never known before. Margaret Walker is such an amazing professor who always keeps class super fun and engaging. She also wants her students to succeed as much as possible, so she provides you with so many resources, and she's always an email away.

Favourite thing about Teach Exec?: Everyone on Teach Exec is so kind, caring, and welcoming. From our first meeting, I knew that I would be welcomed and that I would feel like I belong throughout the entire process, and they have made every possible stride toward making everyone feel safe, included, and wanted. They (and we all!) will take the time to get to know you all, and they have worked so hard to give you guys a GrouNDbrEAKinG o-week!

Personal Spotlight: Hello friends! My name is Thomas and I am so stoked to welcome you guys to the Con-Ed Family! I am in the Intermediate/Senior stream, and I am a Music student, voice major! I am also taking French courses to have that as my second teachable. I love all things performing arts, so reach out to me for a conversation about music, dance, theatre, or literally anything else! One day I want to travel the world because I think that would just be fantastic (yes I know it's basic, but Europe is high up there on my travel list). In second year, I plan on joining more clubs and being active in the Kingston community when it is safe to do so! I care very much about inclusivity and making sure people feel welcomed, so don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions, concerns, or conversation starters! I can't wait to meet you all, and I hope you have a wonderful day :)

Words of wisdom: Just have so much fun! University can seem really scary and "unapproachable" (if that makes any sense), but it really isn't as difficult as it seems! Take deadlines and projects seriously, but have fun with it! Don't stress over things - there are so many people you can reach out to for help. There are so many staff members and fellow students who would be more than happy to help you - some of which are just waiting for a message or an email from you (music students - that's me! I would love to help you out!). So don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet people - you won't regret it :)
